Ice Awls
Pick-of-Life awls are for self-rescue, allowing you to crawl on top of the ice using the picks as traction. You can also slide them to someone who has fallen through the ice.
Suddenly falling into freezing 32.5 degree F water, most immersed adults should expect exhaustion or unconsciousness to take effect in less than 15 minutes. That's why we recommends that everyone on ice should be prepared to be able to assist themselves in getting to safety and should always have a pair of ice awls with them.
